Introduction

Hi my name is Puja Dhary. I am currently attending LaGuardia Community College. I am perusing a degree in Writing and Literature. I feel that even in today’s modern world with all the technology at our fingertips; you can’t go wrong with reading a good book or writing about something in life. The main reason I am taking ENG 274 is because I need this credit. However, I find this class to be intriguing so far. This class shows how to interpret things in a different way and not stare at facts and then write about what you have read. To me this is the kind of class that challenges a writer and makes them think differently. No I’m not sucking up, if that’s what you’re thinking. It is just my opinion on how I feel about this class.

Ever since I was about seven years old, I always loved to write about things I see around me. Mostly it was summaries about the television shows I used to watch as a kid. I guess now you could call them reviews. The other reason why I love writing is because I grew up in the  80’s and 90’s. During the two generations animation on television was – yes I am going to use the word – epic! There was story, drama, character development, life lessons, and more. Now a days you don’t really see any of that in animation on television, unless you count the Disney films and other animated movies.

The things I’ve written over the years are definitely essays. Urgh I think I have essays saved up from kindergarten somewhere in the bowels of my room. I have written short stories, although I’m not sure if you could call them original short stories because they center around things based on my favorite animated series. Everyone on the internet calls this type of short story writing; Fan fiction. I have written a little poetry in my lifespan, not as much as short stories. Now that I’ve been introduced to blogger, I’ve started my own review blog on books, comics, animated TV shows, and video games. I just started that blog it’s not much. Speaking of books, I’ve mostly read fiction books; mostly the fantasy genre books; like the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I'm not into the whole paranormal romance stuff. The Twilight series is one of the books that I loathe and it amazes me how it got published in the first place. I read comic books as well, go ahead and judge me all you want, but comics are awesome! I’m just an old nerd, deal with it.

I am really hoping that this class will break me out of my fantasy genre book rut that I’m in. I want to branch out and read other things. The only non-fiction book I have is the book based on Stacy Dugard and the book The Girl with Dragon Tattoo. I am always writing or reading something whenever I get the chance to. On the internet world my penname usually goes by Puja723; just Google that and you’ll find my YouTube, Tumblr, and all my other accounts… except for Facebook. I’m not a Facebook person. I hope you all have enjoyed this intro blog, as I’ve enjoyed writing it.
